Stewards' reasoning
The stewards reviewed video and radio evidence. Pérez was attempting to overtake Stroll at Turn 1 / 2. He cut behind the kerb and rejoined the track in front of Stroll gaining an advantage. In accordance with Art. 27.3 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, the Race Director gave the opportunity to give back the whole of the advantage he gained.
