Every driver's penalty points on a rolling 12-month clock - reach 12 and it's an automatic one-race ban. Each point expires 12 months to the day after its decision.

Why so few points in 2026?

Under the tightened Driving Standards Guidelines, the stewards have almost stopped issuing penalty points in 2026 - handing down time penalties instead. That's why most of the grid sits on zero. Points still matter: they roll over a trailing 12 months, and 12 of them still means an automatic race ban - so the tracker stays.
