- Stewards' reasoning
- The Stewards reviewed video, timing and in-car video evidence. Russell was attempting to pass Piastri on the outside into Turn 15. In doing so Russell went off track and completed the overtaking off track. At no time while still being on track was Russell in front of Piastri and therefore did not have the right to the line, but gained a lasting advantage by completing the overtaking off track.
